July 18, 2026

As part of their official engagements in Finland, the distinguished Olowu delegation carried out a strategic visit to Finnpartnership and Finnfund, two of Finland’s most important institutions for international development cooperation, sustainable investment, and private sector partnership between Finland and emerging markets.
The visit formed part of a broader programme focused on business development, investment opportunities, cultural diplomacy, and sustainable economic collaboration between Africa and the Nordic region, coordinated through initiatives linked to Ceci Educare Oy and led by Cecilia Naadensua Quarshie.
Finnpartnership is a Finnish business partnership programme that promotes trade and long-term business cooperation between Finnish companies and developing countries. It supports partnerships by providing advisory services, funding for business cooperation projects, and facilitating market entry opportunities. The programme plays a key role in encouraging responsible business, sustainable development, and mutually beneficial commercial relationships between Finland and global emerging markets.
Finnfund is Finland’s development finance institution and impact investor. It provides long-term risk capital, loans, and equity investments to private sector projects in developing countries. Finnfund focuses on sustainable development goals, including renewable energy, digital solutions, agriculture, infrastructure, and climate-friendly investments. Its mission is to generate measurable development impact while supporting profitable and responsible business growth in emerging markets.
During the visit, the Olowu delegation engaged in discussions centered on investment cooperation, renewable energy opportunities, SME development, education partnerships, infrastructure growth, and sustainable trade between Finland and Africa. The delegation expressed strong interest in how Finnish development finance models could be aligned with African traditional leadership initiatives, diaspora networks, and emerging business ecosystems.
The engagement also highlighted opportunities for public-private partnerships, green energy investment (particularly solar), entrepreneurship development, and cultural-economic collaboration frameworks that can support long-term growth between both regions.
The visit was marked by mutual exchange of ideas on how to strengthen Africa–Nordic economic relations through structured investment channels, ethical business practices, and inclusive development strategies.
Overall, the Olowu delegation’s visit to Finnpartnership and Finnfund represented a significant step in advancing dialogue on sustainable investment cooperation, opening pathways for future collaboration in trade, development finance, and cross-continental economic partnerships.
