The Woman Who Builds Bridges: How Cecilia Naadensua Quarshie Is Connecting Africa and the World
May 19, 2026

Sometimes I wonder what our ancestors would say if they saw us today , living far from home, speaking different languages, raising children in foreign lands. They survived slavery, colonization, pain, and separation, yet they still protected our songs, our names, our traditions, and our dignity so that one day we would remember who we are.
Today, many African children in the diaspora are growing up disconnected from their roots. Some are ashamed of their accents, their skin, their names, or their culture because the world made them feel they are not enough. And that is painful, because Africa is not something to hide. Africa is home. Africa is strength. Africa is identity.
If we do not preserve our culture, we risk losing more than traditions ,we risk losing ourselves. Letus not be the generation that allowed our heritage to disappear. Let us be the generation that kept the fire burning, so our children and grandchildren will never forget the sacrifices and spirit of the ancestors who carried Africa in their hearts, even in their darkest moments.
Oyiwaladon. Medaase. Thank you
