The Olowu Entourage Gets Awarded in Finland: A Historic Recognition at the Prestigious Global Awards

The 3rd Edition of the Prestigious Global Awards, held in Finland under the broader Nordic–Africa engagement programme, marked a historic moment dedicated to changing global narratives around African leadership, culture, innovation, and international collaboration.

The event brought together a distinguished royal and diplomatic entourage, who were formally recognised and awarded in Finland for their contributions to cultural diplomacy, leadership, and cross-continental engagement.

The royal delegation was led by Alayeluwa, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, Olówu of Òwu, whose presence symbolised the strength of traditional leadership and its growing relevance in global cultural and diplomatic spaces.

The delegation included Her Royal Highness Olori Ameenat Adeleye Matemilola, alongside respected dignitaries such as Otunba Adejare Rewane Adebenro, Dr. Akintoye Akindele, Pastor Israel Adebayo Olajumoke, and Mrs. Olajumoke. The wider international recognition also acknowledging the presence and influence of His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who was represented by Alayeluwa, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, Olówu of Òwu.

The awards ceremony in Finland reflected a powerful message of unity, representation, and global recognition, highlighting the importance of African leadership voices in shaping international dialogue on culture, development, business, and diplomacy.

The theme, “Changing the Narratives,” underscored the mission of repositioning Africa on the global stage—not only as a continent of heritage and tradition, but also as a rising hub of innovation, leadership, investment opportunity, and cultural influence.

Throughout the engagement, the entourage was honoured for their contributions to strengthening Africa–Nordic relations, promoting diaspora engagement, and advancing collaborative opportunities in business, education, tourism, and cultural exchange.
